5 Things About Lee High

School Programs

Lee High offers a variety of programs for academic advancements, career prep, and extracurricular interest. Lee High is one of eight schools in Fairfax County that offers an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. This program encourages students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The AP program at Lee is a challenging academic program designed to provide motivated high school students with college-level academic courses.

The Career and Technical Education program (CTE) allows students to learn the technical applications of different occupations while preparing for either higher education or entering the workforce.

There are numerous programs and activities available for students no matter their interest: Key Club, Debate Team, Red Cross, Club, NAACP, German Club, Junior and Senior Math Teams. Lee also has quite a few honor societies including National Honor Society, Math (Mu Alpha Theta), English, History, Japanese, Spanish, and French honor societies.

Foreign Languages

All Fairfax County middle and high schools offer French and Spanish at a minimum, however, Lee High also offers German and Arabic language classes.

After School Activities

Lee High has a team for every athlete in every season.

There’s cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, football, golf, volleyball in the fall. As winter approaches and temperatures drop they move on to indoor sports like theatre, basketball, gymnastics, indoor track, swim & dive, wrestling and scholastic bowl.  By the time spring rolls around students are back outside trying out for baseball, crew, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field.

Student enrollment at Lee High is nearly 1700 students per school year.

Students attending Lee High School usually attend Key Middle for the 7th and 8th grades. Students living in Monticello Woods, Rolling Forest, Terra Grande, Springfield Oaks, Japonica, Loisdale Estates subdivisions as well as the surrounding areas of the 22150, 22152, and 22153 zip codes may be zoned for Lee.

I always recommended future home buyers use Fairfax County Boundary Locator to confirm the schools serving a specific address before making any decisions.

If you’re relocating from another part of the country you may be surprised to learn that schools in Fairfax County begin the last week of August and end in either the second or third week of June.

Lee operates on a block schedule where students alternate classes depending on the day of the week. In-class time is roughly one and a half hours rather than attending every class each day for 45 minutes. Here’s an example of what your high schooler can expect on a day to day basis.
