Lynbrook has an Advanced Academic Program for students in grades K-6. The school works with teachers to identify students that may benefit from the program, however, you can also request a screening of your child by contact the school directly. If your child is selected for the AAP program they’ll be pulled out with other students throughout the week for those subjects.

Lynbrook is a Title I school, which means they receive additional funds through a federal grant to help level the playing field for students in families with lower income. Schools are identified for Title I funds based on the percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price meals.

The Lynbrook FECEP/Head Start program provides a preschool program for children age 3-5 at no cost to qualifying families.


Lynbrook serves students in preschool and grades K-6. Typically there between 600 and 650 enrolled at Lynbrook each school year.

One important thing to consider is the school’s hours of operation. Lynbrook’s hours are Monday through Friday are 8:40 to 3:25.

If you need to be at work by 8:30 that could present some challenges for you, especially if you’re commuting to the District or the Pentagon.

Lynbrook offers SACC which is a before and after-school program has with the Office for Children of Fairfax County. However, I have to warn you that SACC often times has a waiting list that’s months long. Check out the SACC website to see if there are spots currently available.

If you are unable to get your child signed up for SACC there are a number of private before and after care programs in the area that will drop off and pick up your child.

Parent Involvement

Parent involvement has been linked to student achievement. When looking for a school for your kids you’re also looking for a school that’s a good fit for you as well.

The Lynbrook community relies on volunteers and partners from the community. The Lynbrook PTA relies solely on gifts from the community and fundraising efforts to provide extracurricular activities, field trips and events.
