5 Things About Robinson High

School Programs

Robinson High offers a variety of programs for academic advancements, career prep, and extracurricular interest.

There are numerous programs and activities available for students no matter their interest: debate team, yearbook committee, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), a few different honor societies,  orchestra, and a host of other clubs and organizations.

There are a number of options for students interested in performing arts. Robinson High has a theatre/drama, dance, chorus, strings, band, and even a separate guitar program.

Foreign Languages

All Fairfax County middle and high schools offer both French and Spanish, however, Robinson also offers German, Latin, Chinese, Arabic, and Korean language classes. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) awards the Virginia Seal of Biliteracy to students who attain proficiency in English and one or more world languages by high school graduation.

Student enrollment at Robinson Secondary- High is about 2700 students each school year. Total student enrollment is between 3,700 and 4,000, however, that number is slightly skewed because Robinson Secondary includes both Robinson Middle and High.

Students living in Burke Cove, Burke Centre, Colony Park, Fairfax Station,  Kings Park West, and a few other parts of Burke may be assigned to Robinson Secondary if they attend the following elementary schools, Bonnie Brae, Fairview, Laurel Ridge, Oakview, and Terra Centre.

Robinson Secondary is a part of the Robinson Pyramid, Region 4 of FFX public school district. We always recommend future home buyers use Fairfax County Boundary Locator to confirm the schools serving a specific address before making any decisions.

If you’re relocating from another part of the country you may be surprised to learn that schools in Fairfax County begin the last week of August and end in either the second or third week of June.

Robinson High operates on a block schedule where students alternate classes depending on the day of the week. In-class time is roughly one and a half hours rather than attending every class each day for 45 minutes. Here’s an example of what your high schooler can expect on a day to day basis.

After School Activities

Like most other high schools in the area, Robinson has facilities on campus to host most athletic competitions. There’s a gymnasium, football field, soccer field, and baseball field.

Robinson has a team for every athlete in every season. There’s cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, football, golf, volleyball in the fall. As winter approaches and temperatures drop they move on to indoor sports like basketball, gymnastics, indoor track, rifle, swim & dive, and wrestling.  By the time spring rolls around students are back outside trying out for baseball, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field. Lastly, there’s dance which is offered year-round.
