Rolling Valley has an Advanced Academic Program for students in grades K-6. The school works with teachers to identify students that may benefit from the program, however, you can also request a screening of your child by contact the school directly. If your child is selected for the AAP program they’ll be pulled out with other students throughout the week for those subjects.

Springfield is a culturally diverse population and Rolling Valley offers an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program with two instructors.

In addition to classroom instruction, students welcome opportunities to participate in activities such as the band, chorus, strings, Patrols, GEMS, the Cribbage Club, and SCA Spirit Days

Enrollment

Rolling Valley typically has a student enrollment of just under 600 with students in grades kindergarten through 6th grade.

Students living in the 22152 and 22153 zip codes, specifically in Bentley Village, Cardinal Forest, Daventry Park, Kenwood, Rolling Forest, Rolling Valley, and Spring Woods could possibly attend Rolling Valley Elementary. Rolling Valley is in the West Springfield Pyramid that means if your child goes to Rolling Valley Elementary they’ll go to Irving Middle School then West Springfield High School.

School Hours

If you’re relocating from another part of the country you may be unfamiliar with the Fairfax County school calendar. School starts during the last week of August and ends in either the second or third week of June.

One important thing to consider is the school’s hours of operation. If you need to be at work by 8:30 that could present some challenges for you, especially if you’re commuting to the District or the Pentagon.

Rolling Valley’s hours are Monday through Friday are 9:15 to 4:00.

Rolling Valley offers SACC which is a before and after-school program has with the Office for Children of Fairfax County. However, I have to warn you that SACC often times has a waiting list that’s months long. Check out the SACC website to see if there are spots currently available.

If you are unable to get your child signed up for SACC there are a number of private before and after care programs in the area that will drop off and pick up your child.

Parent Involvement

Parent involvement has been linked to student achievement. When looking for a school for your kids you’re also looking for a school that’s a good fit for you as well.

Rolling Valley PTA supports the school through various fundraisers and events throughout the school year. The Rolling Valley PTA offers a number of before and after school fee-based programs.
